How to downgrade packages?

I upgraded packages from gnome3-team by mistake (forgot to take out the ppa), and I wanted to downgrade them (back to the official stable version).

ppa-purged worked for me in this case:
sudo ppa-purge ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
